Hal has been turning for more than 30 years and has focused mainly on segmented work using exotic hardwoods.  Over the years, he has built up an extensive collection of exotic hardwoods that he selects from to create visually appealing articles in a large array of colors and woods. Hal graduated as an Electrical Engineer and worked in the IT industry until his retirement in late 2010.  His background in engineering helps him visualize and construct the basic blocks that form the structure of his turned bowls.  Throughout his working years, he was able to produce only a limited number of turnings, as family and career left little time to pursue woodwork.  But now that he is retired, he is happily able to devote much of his time to woodwork.
